That makes sense Wayne. I was not faulting the tuner at all. The comment
I was responding was that having the internal tuner was an advantage of
the new amp. Its somewhat limited range may not obviate the need for a
broader range external tuner if required by the antenna system. I run
SteppIR antennas, where a tuner is not a necessity.

Hi Lou,

The tuner can match a wider range (about 5:1) at reduced power, and 
this can automatically be handled in the amp thanks to a switchable 
input attenuator. The behavior of the tuner/attenuator in the presence 
of high SWR can be specified by the user.

An SWR range of 3:1 max is a reasonable full-legal-limit criteria for 
many operators (including our focus group) when using an internal ATU. 
This is typical of the case where nominally matched antennas are used 
on each band.
