Well, proceed as you must Gene, but building and operating a K2 is an experience in radio like no other.  And "Mr. K2" [Don] is always here to help.

I am aware that the top of the KPA-100 is a black fined heat sink.  I was not aware that the KAT2 could not fit below it.

Now I know why Elecraft came out with the K3. Confusion reigns at least for me.  Think I will just get a KX3 which is very much like my K3 which I have had for over 10 years.
