I spoke to a Drake tech way back when on some matters. His advice was to turn the ALC (or whatever it was for drive level) for the TR7 on the small internal pot to keep it at 100w, rather than full power or even less than the full possible. This was long term better for finals I think and left some cushion overall for the ratings. Its power, no surprise, goes down as one approaches using the 10 m band... a band I have rarely been on... even 12m is a bit rare for me, personally. So I turned the power down...small difference between the 100w or so on 80 versus just that much more it can in theory do in a not so practical actual sense, given it is an old rig and who knows what re. replacement finals etc.
