Is it possible that you have VOX turned ON or bumped a PTT or FOOTSWITCH?
I’ve had the KDVR in a K3 since 2009 and my K3S since they began shipping (S/N 10069, very early s/n). I’ve never had any issue like you describe. Have you contacted Elecraft customer support?
