Older generation K3's (SN 101, 157, 1763 and 8714) utilized with recently added DVR's operating in the Caribbean for the past 2 years. Station consists of 4 K3's on 1 acre with 4 stations on the air as a M/M at the same time thru 3 towers. There is allot of RF around. The radios, computers and 1KW amplifiers are all grounded thru a short run of braided cable to a grounding bus. The RS 232 USB cables have additional toroid's added. The K3's are running MCU Firmware 5.6, FPF 1.26, DSP1 2.88, DVR 2.0. No issues are seen from the N1MM software. K3 SN 7391 while operating on 40 meters for the 2018 CQWW SSB contest did not experience the problem.
Since the K3's started being used which has been for the last three SSB contests, the Recoded Messages Memory fails to work perfectly. The issue occurs less than 5% of the time. The following combinations occur randomly. Sometimes the message stops the voice recording after starting it while the radio continues in transmit. Sometimes the message does not transmit at all while the radio is in transmit. Sometimes the next request for the message works correctly. Sometimes the message will not work unless the recording is re-recorded. Sometimes the radio needs to be momentarily shut off and when it comes back on, the message works correctly without needing re-recording. This issue is seen while pushing the M buttons on the K3 in either a single request or in repeat and seen after pushing the F keys while utilizing N1MM+ Logging Program. This has only been seen on the M1-F1 (not M2-4) keying for "CW Contest-Call". The repeat function time is set at 6 seconds. There appears to be a Software Loop Time Error in the K3 especially if the F1 keys are pushed quicker than 4-5 seconds while trying to manage control of a frequency. The K3's will be utilized in the CQWPX SSB contest in 3 weeks.
