Wes, FYI, my K2, S/N 7225, also has a faint birdie in about the same spot, but only with the antenna hooked up, listening to "white" noise. There are several birdies in all bands with no antenna, but I can only hear most of them with the AF and RF Gain pots maxed out.
Most will disappear underneath a received signal (even noise), but there are a couple that are loud enough to hear with one.
