Yes...I operated a K3s for several months with the 1st filter position open.  
The K3 will need to be instructed that the position is open.  The free K3 
utility software will help you do that.  When you set up the radio the first 
time, follow the manual for setup/calibration and you will find those 
instructions on how to do that. You will also want to check to be sure the 
radio is on the latest firmware which that software can also do for you.


The you can save the current config for safe keeping.
