I'm running my KX2 on 5W with a AX1 vertical loaded whip on 20m with two counterpoise cut for 1/4 wave. I'm able to RX/TX WSPR with my spots heard in minus single digits - some positive single digits. I'm also able to RX FT8 but unable to QSO - nobody apparently hears me on HamSpots.
It seems I have my answer but was hoping that if I could get my signal spotted on WSPR I should get *some* spots on FT8. Perhaps FT8 has gone well out of low power and I'm in the weeds. That and I'm using vertical polarization with most horizontal. I'll add I'm operating inside hotel rooms while traveling but I figured walls stop WSPR and FT8 equivalently, but the 2min vs 15sec cycle times come into play as well.
