This was, for me, a comedy of errors. It's the first time I've
been able to contact any relay from the New Hampshire QTH. I was
running my KX3 6454 at 15W into a 2 element wire beam at 20'
pointed WSW. Steve, WM6P managed to pick me up, and after 5 or 6
round trips had mannaged to finally copy my call. Eric, WB9JNZ
heard my call from Steve and said, "It must be Bill from
California." Well is was down hill from there. I tried to tell
Steve that I was in New Hampshire, but the only result was for
Steve to say, "Will the November Hotel station come again."
Well, I just listened to the net after that and heard about
70-80% of the stations. My noise was below S0 and some of the
stations came through clearly without any bars of the KX3's S
meter. Eric was the strongest station I heard at about S4 with
perfect copy.
I also remember hearing Jim, NC0JW, my usual relay station
weakly but clearly.
