Ben, You no longer have to worry about the KAT500 stopping the K3 power on. That was fixed in a 4.xx firmware update eons ago. If you have a 5.xx firmware version in your K3 you have nothing to worry about. As far as I know there never was an issue with the KPA500. I never had any issues with my KPA500 and after loading the updated firmware no issue with my KAT500 either.
