Sounds like a power glitch.  I’ve seen that with my KPA500.   My amp is powered 
from a 240v line w/neutral.  As to why unplugging was necessary, I can only 
speculate primary leakage current or line input filter, which is in the 
microamp range, was a contributing factor.
