If you are using the KAT3 tuner, then you are too close to the 8215khz IF Trap mounted on the KAT3 tuner. Years ago the original traps were burning up and Elecraft replaced them with a new trap that could be tuned. That did not completely solve the problem, so Elecraft suggested shorting out the trap or removing it completely and jumper the board.
