I use Excel a lot! But, I would never consider using it as any kind of logger.
A very popular on-line program for net logging is NetLogger: https://www.netlogger.org/ I recommend you check it out. Several groups I frequent use it. One cool feature is it's on-line so one net session can have multiple users.
