This year, we used the K2/100 on the CW station at N0NK. We cranked out over 1000 Qs until I messed with the menus and killed off the sidetone. I have since figured out what I did, but we traded out the rig for a IC-XXX for the remaining 5 hours of FD. Surprisingly, this was a good thing because I learned something from the experience. This was the first time I operated in a multitransmitter configuration with the K2 1. The K2 has excellent rejection compared to the IC-XXXX. The Icom was full of trash from the other three stations within the 1000 foot circle. It is a nice rig, but the front end caved in when it was on CW and the another station was on SSB on the same band. The K2 did not. We never heard trash on the K2 RX. 2. The k2 does not put out trash either. We were hammering CW on night long and none of the other stations usings Y, I and (yes) Heathkit compained about "trash" were were throwing around. We were running at 100 watts as well. 3. The K2 seemed to everyone to be a "sweeter" sounding radio that did not give you brain fatigue. The only other radio that was sweet to listen to that I've owned was the IC765 which had great audio. I am sure the excellent RX is because the K2 is a no compromise radio...where the Y, I and K radios do so much in one box. A kind of radio that is a do all and be all. No wonder the multi-multi DXpeditions like to take this radio. That is my story and I sticking to it. Lee - K0WA
In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply. If you don't have any Common Sense - get some and use it.
