Amateurs have a license to live up to. Government may restrict commercial amateur gear to be restricted when it leaves the factory but if a licensed amateur hampers this for the sake of having special functions they should be able to do so without rendering the radio illegal. A K2 is not leaving the factory as a complete unit but as a bunch of parts that can be put together by qualified users. Spain as a country should in that case be to blame, not Elecraft be forced to make adaptions to the kit. As should of course Nouvelle Caledonie.
