I think a comment I made started this discussion.

I don’t have any problem with anyone setting up a group for anything they want.
If K4 users want a distinct group, that’s fine. I’m a subscriber, too.

What happens more often than not, though, is that everything gets cross-posted
anyway. And the replies get cross-posted, and so on. So thinking that you
won’t see posts that don’t interest you on the main reflector because there
happens to be a single-product group is a bit parochial. And not everyone with
an interest, or who might know something, is going to be a subscriber to the K4
group, or vice-versa. I do agree that I expect my delete key to be very active
while everyone is bragging about THEIR K4 being shipped, and the unboxing
videos, and the “first reaction” posts, and the issues people find, especially
those related to the inevitable failures to RTFM, and all of that. Anyone
who’s been hanging around any new product-related reflector knows what to
expect, such as long OT threads about 160M antennas, etc :-)

All of it is interesting. The delete key (or its filter equivalent) can take
care of what isn’t. I’ve personally learned a lot from what seems to be OT
posts, or posts about radios I don’t own, both here and on other lists/groups.
