If there were an alternative to e-mail for the kind of dialog that takes place on this e-mail reflector I think the style and format, along with operating rules, of the Stack Exchange forums would be a great fit.
Now, I don’t think Stack Exchange would allow a vendor directed forum and there is already a Ham Radio forum which is not that good in my opinion but the way the software works, the organization, the division of posted questions with answers and the voting to rank answers (and even questions) is very good. Each forum also has a chat mode for back & forth dribble that might come up now and then.
