Thank you Grant. That document is very useful. Yes, I was probably 
inadvertently rummaging about in that area of settings.  I hope I haven't 
inadvertently degraded sideband rejection, and as far as I can tell all seems 
fine.

That document didn't come with the filter kit, which might have helped, 
although the procedure looks quite involved. Maybe Electraft have reasons for 
not encouraging fiddling with settings that are already correctly set up in the 
factory.

There is an auto-mode for opposite sideband nulling to calibrate the KXFL3.    
I’d have to look at the manual to remember the specific keypresses for this, 
but it does show progress in the display (phase and gain) while running through 
the procedure.  It is described in this document:

Could that be what you put the radio into without knowing it?
