Fred KF9GX at FAR Circuits does have them, they're four bucks each plus 3.50 for shipping up to ten. (Possibly more outside the US.) Thanks Don for pointing this out!
I believe it's the SMD version which is fun to assemble if you're a masochist! If someone gets around to ordering the parts to go along with the board, it would be great if they could post the list here. I believe the chip is obsolete but still available. Tom Hammond was SK several years ago, but his local radio club has preserved the content on his website. All the instructions are there, and I believe Tom used FAR Circuits for his boards.
