Follow-up: It looks like one of the KSYN3A synthesizers went toes up. The little green LED on synth #2 (sub rx) was on, but not the one on synth #1 (main rx). When I swapped them, the illuminated LED followed the (presumed) working synth. With just the one working synth installed for the main rx, the radio came to life, and the response to the OM command has the "V" back in it.
