I will have to redo my tests. As I think about it, it may have been between letters that I was hearing rather than between elements. The thumping on the Yaesu with the delay setting of 0 certainly put me off the Yaesu as it got really tiring really fast.

I will try to optimize the timing for the Yaes and use Spectrogram to hear instead of my ears and see what I come up with.

Thanks for all the input. I have gone back and checked out the past discussion on improving K2 QSK by modifying R17.

Regards,
Raj

You created your own problems with the FT1000MP. The QSK setting does not actually change the speed of anything but the reenabling of the audio. When you set the QSK to "0" the audio comes back on before the radio even unkeys,
hence all thumping.

Neither the MP nor the K2 have fast QSK. Both can no longer hear between elements after about 22 wpm at best, though you can hear between leters. But you must set the MP QSK timing slower, which will not slow down the QSK, only
disappear the audio clicks and thumps.

How slow? Well... a dit or an element space at 60 wpm is 20 ms long.
Certainly no need to set it any shorter than that! Experiment, but I know you will be surprised and pleased how nice the Mp sounds when set to 20 ms, and the reality of the QSK is that it will not be slowed by increasing the audio
delay so that you don't hear the actual switching of stages.

Have fun!
