Sony has repair centers that cover regional areas and charge flat rates to service their products.
I find it hard to believe you got nowhere when you called them.
Did you actually call a Sony Service Center??

For the cost for shipping and flat rate service, you may get your favorite radio back to life!

Begin by looking in phone book for Sony Products and inquire about service. I know their parts are still available long after it leaves the market. (my reel to reel tape recorders can still be serviced).
