I currently run a full K-line (K3/P3 -> KPA500 -> KAT500) and I have a KX3/PX3 with KXPA100 as my backup and portable radio.
When I first got my KX3 I wanted to use it with the KPA500 but at the time, as far as I remember, it was not possible without some fiddling of cables (physical switching) or operating one of the radios with less then full functionality on the interface. Is this still true? Ideally I would want to cable up the two radios to operate with full Elecraft intended functionality without having the need to unplug/plug cables or switch cables. Today I see commercial dual RF input amplifiers that enable this sort of operation. It is also possible with a number of third party linear amplifiers but this means dropping some of the nice features that Elecraft has enabled for automatic band selection, VOX, and other operations. Operating with one of the radios fully in off position is fine with me in such a dual configuration.
