Exactly.... When I was first licensed in 1971, a guy up the street waxed poetic about 1957, when he used an 11 meter AM walkie-talkie to work VK while standing in his front yard in San Diego. This was the vision that eventually led to the KX3, and later the KX2, which is half the size/weight, more like the all-band HT I couldn't quite build in high school :)
