All the indications you have reported are consistent with the utility attempting to connect to a port that is receiving data but the data is not correctly identifying the source as a KAT500. What version of the utility are you using? Have you confirmed that the KAT500 serial data cable is connected to the port you are attempting to use? In any event this does not appear to be a KAT500 firmware issue.
