I will add that 240 volt wiring frequently uses what we 120v people would think of as wimpy wire sizes. If you do the math, they give the same wattage as we get with our #12 or #14 wore at 120v. Or at least that’s what I’ve seen when I’ve looked at the house wiring in 240v land.
