I've had an interesting E-mail discussion about European versus US shortwave broadcast signal levels on the 40 meter band.

To help put some numbers into the discussion, earlier this week, I took a couple spectrum analyzer measurements of the 40 meter band (actually 6.5 - 7.5 MHz) and 0 - 20 MHz. I've posted the screen captures at http://www.cliftonlaboratories.com/Updates.htm, along with a brief discussion.

These numbers may help you associate the K2's dynamic range and 3rd order receive IMD specifications with typical signal levels. (Remember, it's not just signals on the ham bands; it's signals within the receiver's front end bandwidth that must be considered.)

Of course, antennas, propagation and other considerations determine signal levels, so I offer this data as only one set of measurements and would be interested in seeing others.
