If there are worries about connecting the relay control circuits
together, one can put a diode in series with each one (anode toward the
amplifier). Connect the cathodes together and ground them to key the
amplifiers.

Sure, as long as both amps use the same logic for keying. I've done it
for years with a K3, switching between a KPA500 and Ten Tec Titan, using
relays to switch inputs and outputs.
