Regarding your older K2 and the Heil headset:
I'll let others more expert in the matter describe any changes
necessary in your rig.
I can chime in that I have been very pleased with the headset with my
K2. I have received very good signal reports and the VOX trips
appropriately. I also use the foot switch for PTT.
I know it's kinda pricey but it is well made and performs at a level
justifying the cost, IMO.
