Jim,
Not a good idea, because any TX EQ, Compression, etc. will effect your
FT8 transmit audio.
Using DATA A will shut off all that automatically for audio data modes,
making your signal much cleaner.

I have MIC+LIN set to off, I think so that the K3s doesn't pick up
room noise when using data modes.
Also, the mic level control on the front panel affects the line in
level when you are in data a mode. In other modes, it is a mic level,
instead.
