I have used my KX3 for many hundreds of FT8 Qs. Data-A mode is USB without any compression or equalizer. I use WSJT-X almost exclusively and I always use CAT PTT, never VOX. If you ever use a rig without a DATA mode run in USB with no audio processing on TX or RX. Moderate NB seems to be OK if needed.
