Frank, I set VOX to ON (blinking 'L' or 'U'), waited at least a minute, then cycled power, and the K2 came up in PTT (no blink). I have what I believe is the latest firmware in the K2 and the KSB2.
BUT WAIT - after I re-read your info, it seems you are referring to the CW mode - that is the QSK feature of the K2 (VOX is only related to SSB). Holding the VOX button down when in CW mode puts the K2 into CW test mode - yes in that mode you can key the K2 and it will produce no power output (useful as an expensive code practice oscillator). You will get a lot of opposition if you wish to have the QSK defeated. If you want such a 'feature' for yourself, I might suggest that you might consider implementing it by inserting a relay in the paddle lines. The K2 would only transmit from the paddles if the relay was closed - put the activation switch at some convenient place in your operating position (like on the rear of your paddles). 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > K2 VOX Defaults To ON at Turn ON --- Why ?? > I was very disappointed to find that the K2 Vox/CW PTT defaults > to the ON > state at Turn ON.
