Is it a "Tailgate Charlie" trying to catch some of the Elecraft enthusiasm? Market share theft attempt? Cheap knock-off copy? Serious Competition?
I sure don't know............................ BUT There's a limited supply of crude oil, and there's a somewhat limited number of potential customers for the existing Elecraft product line. Some people aren't interested in a KW linear, and that includes me. Some aren't interested in the transverters. Some people build for the challenge and/or pride of having "done it by myself". Some don't backpack preferring to work from inside air conditioned rooms (it was 103 yesterday). Not everyone is going to buy one of everything, if for no other reason than lack of $$$$. Customer base can go stagnant and/or get stolen without new items to keep people coming back to see what's new. As for me, I'm approaching the end of my buying run. After the 100W amp and tuner, I'll probably be done buying for now. No K3? That's cool.............. But I hope you're hatching something that's interesting to me within my price range. How about a 20/25 amp noise free switcher PS and an external amplified speaker in a single EC2? Station Monitor unit? A remote display unit for public events or field day? A display showing signals across the band being worked? I'd go for a 6' long shelf full of K2 station. One gray box after another, all the same size, to increase the "Elecraft Experience". After I win the Texas Lottery.........................
