We are getting ready for Field Day and once again all stations will be Elecraft K3 or K3s. That is the GREAT NEWS! Also GREAT NEWS is that our club has many new members since last year. However, not so great news is that most have never used a K3. Yes, we will try to have a second op sit with them, but we will have 5 stations and not sure that will always be possible.
So - has anyone put together a simple "only touch these knobs or buttons" instruction list for Field Day? I already checked out the Quick Start Guide on page 4 - 6 in the K3 Owners Manual, but even that goes into lots of detail. If you just got a K3 or K3s it is perfect. However, if you are only going to be operating for 1 or 2 hours at FD it might take you that long to find what you are looking for. By then the new person might have touched, turned, pushed and pulled enough controls so that the most experienced K3 user would have trouble getting back to normal.
