Hi Wolfgang, Thanks for reporting back on your new findings. Your explanation is clear.
The standoffs likely provide localized grounding in that section of the RF board. I'll have to look at the corresponding top-side circuit area to know which circuits might be affected by lack of a local return path for currents. Don, W3FPR has almost certainly seen this issue before and may weigh in here . The manual makes clear that NO lockwasher should be placed between the standoff and the RF board , but only under the screw head against the RF board. My hypothesis is that pushing buttons on the front panel was sufficient to re-enable contact between the standoff and the RF board - it has nothing to do with the particular band choice. I have noticed that when I fold the tilt stand out and back on my K2, there is some small deformation of the bottom cover even though it is secured with all screws. I would guess that any warping of the bottom cover was enough to move the standoffs and either lose or regain contact with the RF board. 73, Mike, K8CN ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
