While the KH1 remains a transceiver highly optimized for hand-held CW use,
many SOTA users had requested the ability to send FT8 packets. The primary
application of FT8 on the KH1 is for self-ID upon reaching a SOTA
destination. This capability is now functioning as of firmware rev. 1.27.
You'll need a small, inexpensive third-party device like a SOTACAT that
plugs into the rig's key jack.

The KH1 Owner's Manual has been updated with a chapter on FT8 use (page
25). You can find this and other KH1-related documents on our manuals

How about two-way FT8 contacts? As of this writing there are efforts to
modify existing apps for smart phones, etc., to make this happen. Someone,
somewhere, will be the first to make an FT8 QSO on the KH1   :-)
