Hi Rick, Thanks for your input.
While a mid-level radio between the KX3 and K4 is an interesting idea, for the foreseeable future that radio is still the KX3. We intentionally designed it as "chameliod" system, adaptable to many operating scenarios -- take the radio itself out to a picnic table, add a KXPA100 for mobile at 100 W, and add the PX3 for home use. At a presentation once I showed a slide of the K3 next to the KX1. I said the K3 met the KX1 at a bar, they got drunk, and 9 months later there was the KX3 :-) This is utterly non-PC now, of course, but you get the idea: we _do_ like thinking about hybrid products. Keep those ideas coming. 73, Wayne N6KR On Tue, May 12, 2026 at 12:22 PM Richard Pedowski via Elecraft < [email protected]> wrote: > Good afternoon, > > Given the recent announcement regarding the K4HD and the upcoming price > increase in May, I believe this presents an opportunity for Elecraft to > reintroduce a model positioned between the KX3 and the K4 series. > > Based on the K4HD module description, it seems to feature a modernized K3S > front-end (synthesizer, filters, mixer, etc.).
