IMHO Sounds like we won't be seeing a K3, IC-7000MKII, or a HW-32B ..... any time in near future. I was looking for a K3 2 years back, as it normally (90's) takes 3 to 4 years for product development R&D to get a new product into manufacture. Software-based, less.
In reading the philosophy of the K2 design, as the "ideal field day rig" - it could be hoped that a K3 would be the "ideal base rig", with a few more bells, more whistles, and some 2006 technology updates. I've read very little of anyone using the K2 for mobile hamming. Is it too tender for this? Any K2's in pickup trucks, etc.? Hoped K2 ideal field day, K3 ideal home rig - would round it out for pretty much everyone, for some years to come. Hams are supposed to be naturally - future minded. Do you remember when one could upgrade their Heath HW-32, to work 3 bands (80, 40, 20), with the addition of some switch wafers, added coils, and ganged items? .... wishful retiree thoughts, on a quiet after- noon. Back to boat winterization ...... Fred N3CSY __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
