Well, WD4LST was using 100 ft at 40 M, which amounts to 0.6 to 0.8 dB of loss depending on the feedline pedigree. RG-213 is about 0.5 to 0.6 dB at the same length and frequency, so the RG-8X looks pretty good, particularly when you consider the cost difference.
Jim your quoting loss when the SWR is 1:1. What is it when the SWR os 5:1?

And it can get that bad easy with short antennas.
