Phil,
They are stereo phones meant for multimedia entertainment so yes they do
pass tones in the 100-200 Hz region.

Worth mentioning is that a simple homebrewed inline filter should easily
cure that (for any headphone set).

  (repeater "PL" tones which come through "hi-fi" phones)?
