Last year, I built my first Elecraft kit, KX1 s/n 1287, and loaded it with the antenna tuner and one of the first KXB8030 modules. I liked the rig a lot, and made lots of good QSO's with it , including some good DX on all bands. Then I strayed. I swapped the KX1 for a Wilderness Sierra, another really excellent QRP rig. But I didn't build it. Somehow it's not the same.
After reading the wonderful reviews of the K2, hearing from a former electronics student of mine who built a K2, and working Charlie, W0YG, a couple of times from his K2 on VK9C (Cocos-Keeling), I decided to take the plunge. My K2 kit (QRP version), along with the KNB2, KDSP2, K160RX, and KBT2 options is on its way.
