Jim, Congrats on taking on the K2! I'm just a couple of weeks ahead of you, feverishly working on s/n 5853, the low power version.
Regarding the power supply-- I'm starting out with a Pyramid PS-4KX (13.8 V. 3A continous, 4A surge) that I have on hand. Since I also purchased the KBT2 internal battery option, I may look for a small Astron supply with an adjustable voltage. I understand the internal battery requires at least 14V at the K2 power plug input for proper charging. 73 & happy building!
