Hello Tom,

In the CQWW cw contest I operated with K9VV as VP2VVV with K2/100 and wire antenna. On Saturday afternoon while Fred was operating, I suddenly could hear the K2 receiver even though Fred was using a headset. We changed headsets and that did not mute the speaker. I vaguely remember reading on the reflector about this before. I went to the elecraft website and tried a search but to no avail. Anybody got the solution? I find it hard to believe that the front panel jack could 'wear out' this quickly. I have only used the K2 in contests about 4 times and the headphones typically go in on Friday nite and stay there until Sunday evening. Otherwise the K2 sits in a Pelican case awaiting its' next adventure.

I have the same problem here with my K2 #01181 since 2 or 3 months. The rig is ongoing in use, with plug in and pull out the headphone all along. But I thing is not to be depending on the number of plug-ins and pull-outs. Maybe the spring steel inside the jack will be softer/lazier or the plastic material of the housing of the jack will lose it's softener and do not hold tight, so the contacts do no longer close. I have noticed, it is not the full sound intensity which I can hear with a pluged-in headphone from the speaker. As the only one solution I see is to change the jack itself.
