At a minimum you need the SSB option unless you plan to operate only CW.

If you're going to operate SSB you should consider the KPA100. QRP phone is
not impossible or unheard of, but it's not as easy as CW.

I like the antenna tuner, but that's optional depending on your antenna
situation.

Beyond that, everything is optional.

Good evening all,

I am currently looking into buying an Elecraft K2 for my first HF Radio.
My question is this; what configuration is the best to start out with
for a Technician Class Ham like myself? Obviously, I feel confident
enough in my ability to build it, or I would be spending the money on a
commercially assembled radio. I also have downloaded all the manuals and
looked through them to get a general idea of what tools are needed to
build the various assemblies.
