Don't worry about the carbon in the pole. It is bound up in a matrix of plastic such that it does not make a good conductor. You can check with an ohm meter two places say a foot apart; what does that read on your pole? (don't break the outer covering, just hold the probe side against the pole side).
It is very unlikely any of the filaments make an RF wavelength fraction of significance at your bands of use.
