Here's an idea. I think I would connect some type BNC cover to the N-Gen or XG2 with string, and a tag that reminded me to put the rig in test mode. Then when I removed the BNC cap to hook it to the rig, the tag would remind me to put the rig in test mode, then when removing the test instrument, the dangling BNC cap would remind me to put it back on the connector to be set up for the next time.
