I was looking through an AES catalog today and noticed they have a speaker with built in dsp for noise reduction, along with a 2.5 watt audio amp. GAP makes one called hear it. SGC makes another, I suspect they are the same unit with different names stuck on in China. They get fair reviews on eham.
I like headphones myself, the big soft hifi kind that cover the ears and block out noise.
