As long as you back down the power appropriately I think you will be fine. However, your amplifier would work better if you put, for example, a pi network at the input. This will give a low impedance path for the second and higher harmonic energy in the input circuit and improve the efficiency. You can then adjust it for a better input match. It also makes the amplifier input impedance less sensitive to the drive level.
One problem with using an antenna tuner is that, since it is not designed to give a low impedance path for the harmonic energy, it may or may not do so. This may or may not effect the amplifier operation. It may even make the input impedance more sensitive to the drive level.
