I did that about a year ago, works fine. I ordered a bunch of different screws from Lisa (the one that goes underside the VFO knob, to lock down the multiturn pot) and then did the job of cautiously 'drilling' the sink-angles.
The body DOES get a little weaker this way, but it's still fine because there's many screws to do the job.
