Wondering whether Elecraft could provide a "Filter Selection Flow Chart" - for prospective K3 buyers. Like: If you like CW contesting, choose X1 and Y3. If you are a 90% SSB op, choose Y & Z. If you do a lot of data work, choose W & Z3. etc. But, if you do no contesting, like primarily SSB and some CW - buy K3 with no filter options. Or - if you intend to do a lot of SWL, and occasional SSB - select the Variable W3 and fixed Y2 filter.
It would provide some level of confidence, one is not buying the incorrect filter(2) for his or her K3, and for his intended communications applications. ............. Decisions, decisions.
